For teachers
SpellChirp for teachers: one class code, every family practising the same list
1 · Start a class
Sign in, name the class, and get a six-character code. It lasts the whole term, so it goes in the first newsletter once and never again.
2 · Post the week's list
Paste the words on Monday — up to three hundred, with an optional note. Every family following the class finds them waiting on their dashboard.
3 · Families practise at home
Each word arrives with a plain-English definition, audio and example sentence, and is practised by typing, handwriting, listening or saying it aloud — ten minutes a night.
What you see, and what you never see
You see the class, not the child. How many families follow, how many added each list and, once five families have practised that week, the class’s accuracy and its five hardest words — the ones worth another look on Thursday.
You never see a name or one family’s results. Below five families any figure would describe a single child, so it stays hidden. Practice happens at home, between a child and their grown-up.
No pupil accounts, no adverts, no chat. Children do not sign up, and there is nothing on screen but their words. Read the privacy policy for the detail.
What families get with your list
- A plain-English definition, phonetic respelling, pronunciation audio and an example sentence for every word.
- Ten quiz types — listen and type, handwriting, definition match, fill in the blank, scrambled and missing letters, a speed round and more.
- A Friday-style test: each word read aloud, no letters, no choices, no second go.
- Story Mode: the week’s words written into an adventure, one chapter a night.
- Printable practice sheets, test sheets and flashcards for the fridge.

Questions teachers ask
- Can a teacher use SpellChirp with a whole class?
- Yes. A teacher starts a class and gets one code for the term. Families open spellchirp.com/class/ followed by the code, and each week's list the teacher posts appears on every following family's dashboard, ready to practise with definitions and audio.
- Does the class code cost anything?
- No. Starting a class, posting lists and following a class are free. Families practise the class list on SpellChirp's free plan with no limit on the number of words.
- Do pupils need their own accounts?
- No. The teacher needs a grown-up account to hold the code, and a family needs one only to follow the class so next week's list arrives by itself. Signed out, the class link still shows this week's words and adds them to that device. Children never sign up themselves, and there is no chat or messaging.
- What can a teacher see about the class?
- How many families follow the class and how many added each list. Once at least five families have practised that week's words, the teacher also sees the class's combined accuracy and its five hardest words. Never a child's name, never one family's results — below five families a figure could only describe one child, so it is not shown.
- How many classes and words can a teacher have?
- Up to ten active classes per account, and up to three hundred words in a single list. Archiving a class frees its slot.
